Inside Steph and Dan's Simple Life London apartment
A home tour can reveal far more than the layout of an apartment. It offers a glimpse of the people who live there, the things they value and the small details that make the space their own. For teacher Steph, musician Dan and their elderly beagle Luna, home needed to balance busy London lives with comfort, quiet and enough room for music.
A welcome from Luna
Steph and Dan welcomed the Simple Life London team into their apartment on a bright February morning - although Luna made her presence known first. Her unmistakable beagle howl could be heard before the front door opened.
Inside, the open-plan apartment immediately felt relaxed and personal. Conversation moved easily from their current favourite television programmes to one of the features that first caught Dan's attention when they viewed the fully furnished home: the lovely blue sofa, now a familiar centrepiece of their living space.
A kitchen that works for both of them
In the kitchen, the couple highlighted the quality of the fittings and the way the space has been organised. Dan was particularly impressed by the integrated hob, although Steph happily claims the title of chef of the flat. What they agreed on was that the kitchen was the right fit for the way they live.
“We love the way the kitchen is laid out and how everything is stored. It has everything we need.”
It is a simple observation, but an important one. A kitchen does not need to be complicated to make a difference; it needs to make cooking, storage and everyday routines feel easy.
Room for music
The guitars in the corner of the lounge offered another clue to the couple's life together. When asked who they belonged to, Dan treated the visitors to an impromptu performance, playing a few samples from his band, Dayorder (@dayorderUK).
Music is woven into their story: Steph and Dan first met at one of his gigs. After several years together, they had a clear idea of what their North London home needed to provide. For a gigging frontman, enough space for instruments and equipment was not an optional extra; it was part of finding a home that could accommodate real life.

Together, those priorities show why choosing a home is rarely about a single headline feature. The apartment needed to work for two different careers, their shared routines, Dan's music and a much-loved dog who has been with Steph since she moved to the UK from Canada.
A quieter side of London
The balcony gives the couple additional space to enjoy at home, particularly during the warmer months. It also looks out onto an area that offers the combination they were seeking: calm surroundings without losing access to central London.
“It's a spacious balcony and lovely in the summer. It's a good area - quiet and friendly, with lots of parks for walks, so Luna loves it as well.”
For Luna, the nearby parks mean plenty of places to explore. For Steph and Dan, the neighbourhood provides somewhere to return to after work or a gig that feels peaceful, friendly and removed from the busiest parts of the city.
A home shaped around real life
Steph and Dan's apartment reflects their life rather than competing with it. The kitchen supports their everyday routines, the living space has room for music, the balcony offers a place to slow down and the pet-friendly approach means Luna is part of the home too.
